Blender Bombs, an up-and-coming brand that created high-quality smoothie enhancers, was on a mission to stand out in a crowded health food market. They came to us with a bold vision: they needed a fun, creative, and colorful e-commerce website that would capture their vibrant brand and engage users from the moment they arrived. But while making the site engaging and visually striking was important, we also had to ensure that the sales funnel and checkout process were smooth and intuitive, allowing customers to easily purchase their products without friction. It was a delicate balance between bold design and seamless functionality—one that would set the stage for the company’s growth in the market.
The research phase for Blender Bombs was unique. With few direct competitors in the space, our analysis focused more on e-commerce stores and health food brands, examining what worked and what didn’t in terms of user experience. We also had several discovery meetings where we brainstormed creative ways to showcase the product. A major aspect of the brand was its ability to combine fresh, nutritious ingredients with Blender Bombs to create meal replacements that supported weight loss and enhanced energy. We discussed how animation could be integrated into the website to bring this concept to life in a fun and dynamic way, emphasizing the brand’s fresh, energetic vibe.
Execution of the design was where the real fun—and challenges—began. The client wanted a 90’s-inspired website that would capture the playful spirit of the brand, so we started by designing wireframes and user flows, frequently meeting in person to make sure we were aligned. Once we had the wireframes approved, the development team worked alongside me to bring the animation elements to life for the homepage, adding a dynamic and engaging touch. We faced many challenges, particularly in ensuring the animations worked smoothly across different screen sizes and mobile devices. With those hurdles cleared, the design phase moved into full swing, and we began sprinting through iterations to create the final look and feel. After the website launched, I continued to work closely with the client to troubleshoot any issues that arose. Despite the challenges, Blender Bombs became one of the most rewarding projects of my career—a testament to the power of collaboration and creative problem-solving.
